We would love to post them on our blog!!!

I was able to go through the photos and just delete most of the bad ones (which were many because I am not a skilled photography - ie - any good photos are purely the result of my camera and/or Kim who used my camera).

Afternoon Pageant Results

Congratulations to everyone that came out and competed!  The competition this year was about as tough as I have ever seen it.  I wish I could give advice and say that there is a formula for this pageant, but with judging being one minute, it is really up to the judges to make a decision with very little time.  Everyone did a terrific job and if you did not win this year, use my motto, try and try again (goodness knows I have done it myself in pageantry!).

The Results:

Contestants: Cecilie Geraghty, Isabella Sponaugle
2nd Runner Up: Elizabeth Carter
1st Runner Up: Alyssa Rivera
Winner: Jenny Scarborough

1st Runner Up: Melissa Shifflett
Winner: Kara Otto

Contestants: Patricia Darcy, Natalie McGee, Jessica Combs
2nd Runner Up: Megan Street
1st Runner Up: Mallory Mest
Winner: Emily Todd

Contestants: Krystal Long, Lindsay Branson, Anita Spangler
3rd Runner Up: Suzanne Farris
2nd Runner Up: Amy Townsend
1st Runner Up: Tiffany Abbondanza
Winner: Renee Fagan

I went through my camera and finally put all the photos on my computer, but I have a long way to go before posting any.  Sorry, but it will be another week before I can post.  Work is busy this week.

Always remember, different day, different judges!  Results were close and could have easily changed with a different opinion.  This is a yearly event that is truly meant to be light hearted and fun.

I will be posting photos very soon!!!!

Quick side note: several of the morning pageant contestants came for the afternoon pageant to support their relatives/friends/moms.  Those children that came back, wearing their crowns and sashes (made me so proud!!!) helped with the crowning of all the afternoon contestants.  You parents / guardians raised some AWESOME kids!  Those children that helped out were kind, considerate and very respectful!!!!  Any time any of you need a babysitter, call me.  I would love to hang out with your kids - they were terrific!

One quick final reminder

I am getting several emails wherein people are assuming that signing up online registers them for the pageant.  Due to the fact that we have limited space, you must sign up online and pay the entry fee to be registered for the pageant.  At this point in time, we have 30 registered contestants for the morning pageant.  If you did not receive an email from me for the morning pageant (Mini, Tiny, Little, Young, and Junior Divisions) stating that I received your information and payment, then you are not registered for the pageant.

For the afternoon pageant, a few spots opened up, but those spots are filled by people that communicated directly with me via email.  The afternoon pageant is now closed.

If you are unsure, just email me at

Next year, I will work to learn to do an online form wherein you fill out the form and immediately click paypal (it will be more seamless for people).

Time for me to print the pageant scripts!!!!

Pagean is on Sunday; not Saturday; and a great question

First, several people have asked if the pageant is on Saturday - it is not.  It is on Sunday.  The paperwork and the Chunk website all have the pageant scheduled for Sunday.  Trust me, I double checked because at this point, I thought that I wrote down the wrong dates! ;-)

A great question: where is the microphone???

So, here is a decision to help you prepare your little ones: one of our two emcees will hand the microphone to each contestant.  The contestant will hand back the microphone at the conclusion of the speech.  Frank and Ellie are the emcees this year; they are both very experienced, so they will help guide the children.

Quick note: remember that our four year old division is a bit different.  We are allowing a chaperone at the discretion of parent(s)/guardian(s) to assist each contestant in their speech and during the beauty walk.

Watch your email

Due to the storm and the fact that I got power last night (but still no internet / tv - which makes posting on this blog tricky), I am behind my schedule in preparations for this pageant.

Please watch your email and/or this blog.

I wanted to announce names of contestants / line up order on this blog, but I do not believe that I will have time.  Also, due to some drop-outs and last minute entries, the age division numbers have shifted since I last posted; keeping up with those changes and finalizing the pageant script (thank you to Siouxzan Moore who taught me how to do this!  She is definitely one awesome director!), I won't likely get to post again before the pageant.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!!  The prizes are beautiful this year and I am so excited to share everything with you all!!!  Let's have another great year at the Chunk and help the Chunk raise more money for worthy charities!!!!

Call for entry is now closed.

The pageant is now full. We have 30 contestants for the morning pageant and 25 for the afternoon pageant.

Due to time constraints, we cannot accept additional contestants.

If you did not get a spot this year, we hope you can join us next year! :-)

One more spot for morning pageant (age 4-12)

Four contestants registered today for the morning pageant.

We have room for one more contestant, so please enter soon if you want that spot. We only have one hour to produce this pageant, so at 30 contestants, we MUST close the pageant to new entrants.

We have 3 spots left in the afternoon pageant (teen - mrs).

Deadline Extended

I really hate extending pageant deadlines, however, several people have emailed because they failed to complete their registration prior to Hurricane Sandy.

Due to the extraordinary storm, I will allow people to enter until this Thursday. Please fill out the online form and email me at I will send you a PayPal invoice (worst case scenario, I will accept cash the day of the pageant).

Some notes, please review all the rules before the pageant. Remember that everyone - contestants included - must pay to enter the Chunk. There is no special parking or free entrance for contestants or their families. Also remember to bring your own seating. The event is held outside in a corn field.

Please everyone stay safe during this storm! My husband and I have no power and it is not a pleasant experience (I can only imagine the hardship on those of you with little children!).

Update on Numbers

4 Year Old Division - I will accept entries into this division until October 30, 2012.

4 year old division will be added

I have had several requests to allow four year old contestants to participate in the pageant.

Due to the fact that we do not have at least 25 contestants in the morning pageant, Dr. Ellie and I agreed that we would allow four year olds to compete in their own division.

The entry fee will be $25 and will include each contestant receiving a tiara, sash and crown pin.  The winner will receive a larger tiara.  Due to the late date, I cannot obtain a "winner" sash - so the winner will receive the same sash as everyone else (hence, the lower cost for this division).

One tiny caveat, I will need at least two contestants to hold this division.  So, hopefully, in the next four days, at least two contestants will sign up (because I know that I have one younger sister of two older contestants that definitely wants to enter).

I will add a paypal link on the side bar Mini Miss division.

All the same rules will apply, except that for the Mini Miss division, we will allow chaperones on stage with each contestant (our number 1 rule is that contestants have fun; with four year olds, we want to be sure that they don't get nervous or sad on stage; allowing a chaperone will assist in them having fun!).

New Prizes

This year, we have a few happy announcements in regards to prizes!

First, we are going to be giving each of our winners scepters this year (this is our 5th anniversary and I wanted to do something fun!).

The photography isn't great, but this photo gives you an idea of how cute these scepters are!

Also, National Ms Pageants and Delmarva Pageants are offering free entries and/or discounts for the winners at this year's pageant.  I will put the winners in touch with these two directors after the pageant because terms and conditions will apply to these prizes (ie - you need to meet the requirements of these pageants before being allowed to enter as well as other criteria set forth by these pageant directors).
